NEXT TONY JAA PROJECT ANNOUNCED
A sneaky squirrel over at Cannes gave me a heads-up about this one. Tony Jaa and the ONG BAK crew have teamed up for movie number three: SWORD. It's a period piece and the martial art du jour is "Dab Thai", which is "Double-Handed Sword-Fighting". Yow.
Prachya Pinkaew directs, Tony Jaa stars, and Jaa's mentor, Panna Ritthikrai (ONG BAK, BORN TO FIGHT), does the action choreography. (click the image for more info)
I quiver in anticipation.

being a martial artist myself,I always like watching quality martial art movies. In this era where wire works and graphics are dominating the martial art movies,TONY JAA brought a revolution in martial art movies. He is an inspiration to all of our fellow martial arts students. His both movies are superb. His spinning hook kicks and snap kicks are awesome. Moreover his gymnastics and stunts are extraordinary.Best of luck for his next project.

Tony Jaa is the man!
In my honest opinion I think Tony Jaa is better than Bruce Lee. Hes more entertaining to watch fight as we saw in Ong Bak and Tom Yum Goong, especially the scene in Tom Yum where hes fighting 50 or so bodyguards using the Thai elephant moves such as headlocks and arm and leg locks, COOL SHIT! the only thing about the 2 Tony Jaa films is that they are not as well made as Enter and Way of the Dragon. thats why in years to come I think Ong Bak and Tom Yum wont become classics like Enter or Way of the Dragon are, but one thing i can definately guarantee is that in years to come Tony Jaa will become a lagend like Bruce Lee.
1 piece of advise to Jaa, stick to making Thai and oriental films, do not go hollywood! hollywood nowadays just rely on CGI and strings etc.
Jaa is such a prohilific character, he not only stars in the film, but he does hes own stunts and also choreographies the fightin along with his mentor.
I hope in his next film, 'Sword' Jaa can act a little bit better than he did in the previous 2 films, clearly hes not an actor, but it would be good to see some decent acting in the new film Sword.
Best of Luck Tony Jaa
I cant wait to see Sword!!

I love Tony Jaa, he is a really great martial artist. I don't think he is better than Bruce Lee, because no one is. But he is an awesome fighter, with unreal jumping ability. I love watching his demos online, and I can't wait until Tom Yum Goong comes to the United States. I only have to wait another 250 something more days:(. But, I plan to go out and get the dvd as soon as it comes to the States. Tony Jaa makes me want to continue studying Tae Kwon Do, I quit when I was 20 now I'm 23. He inspires me to stay fit and to get up and make things happen for myself instead of just sitting around waiting for opportunity to find me.
Much love to Tony Jaa.
ONE OF YOUR BIGGEST FANS: CHRISTINA S.

Man i can't wait for sword now. Tony you are one of the best fighters i have seen. Tony jaa's movies are so good. ONG-Bak and Tom Yum Goong are my favourite films. Before i saw Jony Jaa i thought no one would be as good or better than bruce lee, But then when my dad came back from work one day and brought ONG-bak home to watch my mouth just droped lol. After i watched it i got all my friend to watch it, basicaly made them hahaha but they thanked me in the end. Then one day reading The combat magazine and it saying Tony Jaa is back with another film Tom Yum Goong I was so excited. I went stright onto the net and brought a copy. When i saw this Film i really liked it. Its not better than ONG-Bak but its just as good.
Now Waiting for Sword
And like chris Said Tony Jaa do not go with hollywood, keep with Thai and oriental films because thats what makes you stand out from everyone else, doing your own stunts and not using rope work and computers.
JAA Rules

I would certainly consider Jaa ahead of Bruce, especially considering that his form is much more credible. Bruce’s JKD and even Kung Fu are both bogus/bs combat forms, just for show.
Muay Thai, on the other hand, is a proven, credible and effective combat form. Not only in combat sports but even SEALS are taught certain Thai techniques. Particularly the short range elbows in that form make it effective in hand to hand combat situations.
Btw yes agree with the first poster, a Besson Jaa/Raffaelli film would be spectacular

how about tony jaa pencak silat, i think he is the real fighter, but no one can stand in bruce lee position, he is the master, the singli fighter with his technik

tony jaa is a stuntman, he learns muay thai for a few years for movie making, he is hardly the best muay thai fighter. Watch more muay thai fight and you'll know. He also does not possess onscreen charisma that bruce lee had.

Here I found some background info on Tony Jaa, behind the scenes. In real he seems a very down to earth guy and awesome good.

tony jaa would kick the crap out of bruce lee..give up bruce lee fans...bruce is a master of jit kun doe and kung fu. tony jaa is a master muay thai fighter and he's just as nimble as bruce lee but his style of fighting is far more brutal than bruce lees.tony jaa would win that fight hands down tony jaa is the man..

Do you know what Bruce Lee is capable of doing to Tony Jaa? I admit that Tony is an incredible martial Artist BUT Bruce would kick his ass with one technique. Unlike Tony, Bruce keeps it simple, straight, and quicker...WAY QUICKER!!!! Trust me!!!!!!

I think that Tony Jaa is what the movie world is missing . He is the Bruce Lee of our generation . I'm not sure who would win in a fight , they are both very powerful & skilled .

I would love to make a comment for one thing i don't think its right for you to be putting down bruce lee's jeet kun do. Bruce lee has more than proved himself to be the best martial artist that the world has ever seen to date.I think that JETLI is the next BRUCE LEE.He is the total fighting package. He has incredible power and speed that is unmatched. Tony jaa is a incredible fighter. But he is no match for Bruce lee or jetli
