Lydia Shum's daughter, Yan Yi, is something of a performer herself. But rather than entertaining audiences like her mom and making them laugh, apparently she upsets audiences and makes them angry. On a children's award show she kissed Ron Ng and generated precisely 54 complaints.

Now, at the opening show for Disney Hong Kong she dressed up like Snow White and danced with the Seven Dwarves (didn't Rob Lowe try this once?) generating the most complaints ever for one show: 171. Her dad, Adam Cheng, says that "Complaints are not bad..." but these complaints are enough to strip the paint from Tammy Faye's face. They say her performance was "disgusting", "repelling" and "will scare children away."

Hong Kongers feel strongly about Yan Yi. 45% of the people in an informal Sing Tao poll say that Yan Yi should lose a lot more weight, and some of the internet conversations about the subject run to over 200 pages.

You can get a relatively tame taste of it on the Asian Fanatics Forum here.

Her dad is Adam Cheng. He was in the first Zu. Therefore, no complaints are accepted.

obsession with being thin is as bad in Asia as in the US. Yan Yi already lost a great deal of weight. Rotten tomatoes for those critics who suggest that she should lose more weight.

That's really strange that they would complain about her. The poor girl went through some horrendous diet to lose weight. From when I last saw her on a TVB Variety show, she was pretty slim (not HK emaciated slim mind you) but slim enough where she was pushing some herbal supplement.

I used to be really fat. So I understand how she feels. Sometimes we can't just lose weight like that. We have to take it slowly. Furthermore, she is so used to eating that much amount.

Have to think about people's feeling before judge them. Some of them can't be help to be born fat. Maybe you are lucky to be born thin. So stop bitching abt ppl n judge urself. No one is perfect and will never be!!!!

It may be a year later but Adam Cheng wish all loyal fans of his would not hurt his family this way . If they do they are not his fans at all. He soon will leave for U.S. to be in major films and guest host in tv show film in U.S.
