NEW TRAILER FOR JOHNNIE TO'S ELECTION
MonkeyPeaches has this link to the Mandarin-language trailer for Johnnie To's new movie, ELECTION.
The trailer features a lot more footage from the movie, including some harsh action scenes, yet somehow they manage to finish it all up by making it look like a fun and happy buddy picture.

There's already a Chinese DVD of Election available at Sensasian, distributor listed as "Liao Ning Wen Hua".
Is this the cut, re-edited Chinese version of Election...? A bootleg...?
Seems too good to be true at $5.99

What's the cut version? Is there a cut that was made for the Mainland? I sort of thought any Mainland release was out of the question, due to all the triad stuff, but it looks like I was wrong. So what can they cut to make it palatable?

I just answered my own question: if you go to the Asian Cinema Discussion board on www.mhvf.net there's a post on the ELECTION thread from Yvonne Teh in Malaysia saying that "yes, there is a Mainland version of ELECTION, it's playing in Malaysia, and it has a happy ending."

stop mainland piracy and nonsensical happy endings or reworkings of films...for example how could they release infernal affairs 3 after the re-edit of infernal affairs 1...only an idiot or mainlander would not raise hell
