NOW TONY LEUNG IS ANNOYED WITH JACKIE
Jackie Chan's outburst about the Hong Kong film industry not being all it can be has already earned some choice words from Johnnie To. But now, leading man Tony Leung Chiu-wai has spoken out publicly to take Jackie down a peg or two. "You [Jackie Chan] are not a myth. You can't count on a few people's powers to create a myth and save the film market." It's a little cryptic, but you can bet he's ticked off. Tony never says anything bad about anybody, so his steam-o-meter must really be in the red to say something now.

ahh, I just read the original article in Chinese. tony leung said, you are not a myth, if no one believes me then check out "the myth." If the actors in Hong Kong could unite together to make one movie, then that'll be a real myth (fairytale.)
He also said, the market is not that simple, it has its highs and its lows, and can't be saved by one film. The only thing we can do is to do our best, make quality films, and just keep on working.
Jackie didn't say much back when he was asked about it last night, instead he just said we should make a film like The Banquet (this film in the 90s that cameo-ed EVERYONE) to save the industry. The sentiment was echoed by Andy Lau, who said that the five popular actors (him, Jackie, Stephen Chow, Chow YunFat, and Tony Leung) could star in a movie together, and Hong Kong money needs to be involved, because other investors would probably demand foreign stars in the mix. He said the Hong Kong film industry is as good as any other in the world. It was ridiculed by Johnnie To as "childish", though they both later said that they were friends.
Yesterday Tony Leung went further to say that despite the differences in opinions, everyone's heart bleeding for the hong kong film industry already shows unity. To each his own, but everyone is simply hoping for the best, there's no right and wrong, only questions of practicality. As to Johnnie To's accusation that Jackie has also made terrible movies (which was what started it all), he said, are there no terrible films in Hollywood? Bad films are inevitable. He believed that none of them would take these feuds too personally, especially Jackie, who always has a lot of class.
in other news, Leon Lai got a little jealous (this is not a joke.)

oh, Tony also backed down/ clarified his earlier statement and said that when he referred to the five-star vehicle as a "myth", he meant that it would be hard to accomplish. he said he was confident that Jackie won't misunderstand or take it personally.

Yeah I heard about that too! Apparently he was upset that he is not included in Andy's Dream Team.

Poor Leon. I think we should start a letter-writing campaign to reassure him that he's not a loser.
Thanks for the translations and depth, everyone. It's much appreciated. I'd send you all little cowboy hats if I could.

Tony Leung's few words said it all.
Jackie, just take a deep breath!
And to all who said Tony is a looser. Guys try to spell his name right, second: Watch his films before writing a comment on his performance.
Not everyone needs to cat-rub Hollywood's legs to become a celebrity.

It looks as if Grady Hendrix wrote this but no:
