SPIKE LEE NUTS OVER DIL SE

I've heard that Spike Lee is in love with the Bollywood musical, DIL SE, which might just be the greatest movie about terrorism every made. The story of a journalist who falls in love/obsession with a suicide bomber, it's a full-blown song n'dance musical and it's Bollywood at its very, very best. Lee's new movie, the extremely good INSIDE MAN, opens and closes with DIL SE's signature tune, "Chaiya Chaiya," the one Shah Rukh Khan sings on top of the train in the opening. What is it about this song? Andrew Loyd Weber hears it and goes into production on BOMBAY DREAMS, Spike Lee hears it and instantly drops it into his latest movie where, incidentally, it doesn't really fit. But it's still a great song.

"Dil Se" as a movie was the worst from director Mani Ratnam, who's kind of a Steven Spielberg of India. His ealier movie "Roja" was an excellent product dealing with the topic of terrorism.

The song 'Chaiya Chaiya' is quite catchy and was featured as an 'item number' which in Bollywood means a pretty girl cast for one song with a lot of flesh and rude dance moves. In this case a model dancing on a truck with Shahrukh Khan, who is bigger than Tom Cruise ever will be, with their identical (short) statures...

I think the common link might be that 'Dil Se' was a crap film from a great director, just like 'Bombay Dreams' is a cra musical from a great director (Webber) and 'Inside Man' is a crap film from another great director (Lee).

I express these views as a member of audience from whom these producers/ directors made money so they can keep their legal actions in their pockets.
