DEATH NOTE TRAILER
Representing the first of what looks to be a wave of Hollywood-produced live action adaptations of manga and anime, DEATH NOTE is getting ready to hit Japanese screens.
Directed by Shusuke Kaneko and produced by Warner Brothers, DEATH NOTE represents, as far as I know, the first time Hollywood has brought a live action anime or manga property to the big screen.
You can check out the trailer here, and I have to admit that it looks far, far better than I expected.

I read the manga. Like most of them, the premise was semi-interesting but it fell flat on its face after only a few issues.
Don't get me wrong, I read a boatload of manga, but with this one, condensed into a 2 hour movie, it may look more high concept than it is.

Warner Brothers also made the live action Cutey Honey, I think.

Hey! You're right. I had no idea Warners was involved with the CUTIE HONEY film. It was a lower profile release than DEATH NOTE, but it's still a really fun film. D'oh for having missed it.
