THE HIDDEN BLADE SETS RELEASE

Yoji Yamada's THE HIDDEN BLADE was supposed to go straight-to-video, but a last-minute change of heart over at Tartan USA has resulted in the movie being released theatrically. It'll open on June 23rd (after a special advance screening at the ginormous Town Hall, of all places - ritzy!) and will run at Cinema Village in NYC.

Who's the PR person on this?
I can't wait to see this in a theater.

PR is Susan Senk, at least in NY. I'd like to take some personal credit for the decision of this not going straight to DVD. This has been in my Top 2 for the year since I saw it last fall at Lincoln Center, and I've been bugging Tartan about when I'll be able to see it again. I loved Twilight Samurai, but this one is even better. It's only one of two movies this year that i've given a 10/10 (the other was Sophie Scholl)

Sophie Scholl? I guess to each his own.
