I'M A CYBORG FINISHES PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Park Chan-Wook's latest movie, I'M A CYBORG (BUT THAT'S OKAY), has completed principal photography, according to this post over on KoreanFilm.org.
I sort of thought that Park's "Vengeance Trilogy" was a case of diminishing returns (even though they were all nice to look at, and passionately made) so I'm excited that he's driving somewhere new.
The plot, for those who don't remember (and this movie has been flying below the radar), is a love story between two people in a mental institution. Pop star Rain is the male lead and the female lead is Lim Su-Jeong (A TALE OF TWO SISTERS) who thinks she's a cyborg.
You can see a close-up of that still here.

I'm glad he's doing new stuff too, though I'm completely on the other side with the vengeance trilogy--I love Lady Vengeance so much that I think of Mr Vengeance and Oldboy as being interesting experiments that resulted in the all-around awesomeness of kind-hearted Geum-ja.

don't forget that Joint Security Area is another one of his great films,
sadly underrated in my humble opinion...

I just saw JSA recently. A bit slow-moving, and I couldn't follow some of the plot, but you really grow to like those guys. And then, when what happens happens, you feel it.
