JACKIE "PSYCHIC" CHAN
Jackie Chan's on-set diary from RUSH HOUR 3 is fascinating reading. Seriously. He compulsively documents everything he does: the traffic home, what time he went to bed, how much Home Shopping Network he watches.
But the best entry is the one where, in an act of pure psychic inspiration, he documents the likely audience reaction to RUSH HOUR 3 with his gallery of photos of people sleeping.

If asked, I'd say that the Rush Hout movies were just okay. However, I must say that the most raucous, excitable crowd I've ever shared a movie with was the one at Rush Hour 2. This was back when I lived in Toledo, and the predominently black crowd went absolutely ballistic (in a, uh, good way) over all the vaguely-racist jokes (said jokes apparently weren't too racist for them). Jackie's threat to Chris Tucker - "I will bitch-slap you back to Africa!!" - garnered the single most house-bringing-down reaction I've ever heard, no foolin'.

I on the other hand saw this one in Hong Kong and the reaction (at the full theatre) was almost as icy as the air conditioning.

I, on the mutated third hand, saw this on DVD and must say that the reaction was filled with choked sobs, belly laughs and much rewinding whenever Chris Tucker spoke.
If any of the above were true, I'm sure I'd be getting it right about.......
