OH NOES! THE DEPARTED IS A TRILOGY?!?
In an interview with MTV.com, Marky Mark says that Scorsese is mulling over the idea of a DEPARTED trilogy, just like the original INFERNAL AFFAIRS trilogy with both a prequel and a sequel. It's not definite, but apparently Scorsese is even talking to Robert DeNiro to play a role.
Yikes.

Or in other words, "Marty, for the love of God, I don't want to do any more Disney football movies. I'm begging you."

Given how the Departed ended, how the hell are they gonna do a sequel?

Same way they did Infernal Affairs 2 and 3?

2 was the prequel, in 3 at least Andy was still alive.

"Yikes?" Why such a negative reaction to this news? I mean yeah I dont want to see Scorsese retread the same material twice more, but the departed was obviously way, way better than the original Infernal Affairs (anybody besides andy lau and the most fervent orientalist could see that), and that trilogy was greeted with enthusiasm. Besides, these types of rumors are almost always worthless anyways.

I don't think it's obvious that Departed was better than IA in any way. I think Departed was a poor retread which was only good when it was trying to be something else (ie: the first hour). I gave up on being credible on this film a long time ago because no one wants to hear someone diss the film (according to many, even though I describe why I didn't like it, I'm apparently a troll? It never made sense to me.).
